📚 Frequently Asked Questions –
Haslett Youth Football
Haslett Youth Football’s mission is to bolster the development of athletes who will eventually play in the Haslett High School football program. It bridges the gap from elementary-aged flag football to Haslett Middle School’s full-contact 7th/8th grade program by offering contact football for athletes in 4th, 5th, and 6th grades.
There are many benefits to participation—physical fitness and skill development, as well as teamwork, communication, leadership, sportsmanship, and more.
Haslett Youth Football believes that starting contact football at younger ages—when taught safely—better prepares athletes for middle school football. Haslett Youth Football follows all MHSAA safety protocols for equipment, injury awareness, and contact limits.
5th and 6th graders will play 11-player, full-contact football in the Aupang Football Conference.
4th graders may either play tackle bar with other communities or join the Aupang league in full-contact.
All gear is NOCSAE-certified. Haslett Youth Football provides helmets, shoulder pads, and pants with pads. Players must provide their own cleats and mouthguards and purchase game/practice jerseys (to keep).
Volunteer coaches from the community. All are required to complete head injury training and shoulder tackling certification.
Teams will be evenly divided as required by the league. Haslett Youth Football promotes equal playtime, development, and a "one team" mindset.
The Combine is a fun, skill-testing event held May 21–22, 2025, at Haslett High School’s practice field. Participation is optional but may help divide teams if needed.
